I looked at some of the negative reviews and it made me cautious. I think the problem that others have had with this product is that it is biodegradable and has a time limited effectiveness. It is not the sort of product that can be applied once and expect it to last throughout a summer season. I have had a severe mole, vole, and ground squirrel problem for the past 20+ years and have tried all sorts of solutions, i.e., poison worms and grubs, all sorts of traps, electronic vibrators and poison pellets. Some of the in-ground traps have been moderately successful, but the problem still continued year after year. This year I applied castor oil treatments on a monthly basis. At first the moles went crazy and torn up my property much more than they normally do, but after a couple of weeks they left the area. Since I have started the monthly treatments they have not returned except for one who I caught with an in-tunnel trap. My property is the best it has been in the past 20 years with the monthly treatments. Do not expect instant results. It takes a little time to train the moles to avoid your property. Also, if your ground is of a dense non-porous clay type and the moles are digging deeper than 8 inches below the surface it might not be able to penetrate the ground at that level. If that is the case, your best hope is baiting with poison worms and in-tunnel traps which will at least kill a few of them. Good luck.

I have 5 wooded acres in Northern Idaho and tried to achieve a small gopher free (safe zone) area near our house. I have tried EVERYTHING and nothing works (sonic stakes, 3 types of poisons, spray, pellets, etc.). Given the locations of the mounds, I am fairly certain I have only two gophers remaining. I initially gave the product a 3-star rating because it is possible that it did drive some of the vermin off but have since lowered it as I see no progress at all. I will continue to update this review until the product or gophers are gone.(Note: 6 sonic stakes in ground also for past 8-10 weeks with no effect. They are in place at only half their distance and overlap each other)(Note: mixture is 1 cup Baar to 1 cup dish soap. The 'amount applied' refers only the Baar oil and not to the mixture of oil and soap)Date: 2 - 9 June -

Within 4 days I had trapped 5 gophers and my entire 5 acres are cleared. I went beyond the 'Gopher Free Zone' around the house because I have become so fed up with cleaning up their mess. I did a review of the Blackbox trap., giving it a 5-star rating. I have never put one in the ground without it coming up with one of the rodents. This is effective.
