This castor oil is exactly what I hoped for -- it is rich, thick and syrupy and has a mild scent. I have been disappointed several times with oils that claim to be pure, cold-pressed castor oil, but have either not been processed properly or are some sort of unspecified blend. This oil is the real thing and I appreciate that it carries the USDA seal certifying it as organic. I think castor oil is great for my hair but I find it rather messy and time-consuming (I have baby-fine hair and the oil is so heavy that I have to wash it quite a few times for my hair to look nice). So, I only use it in that capacity once in a while when I am not planning to leave the house all day. My main reason for buying this is that I use it on skin. Often! I have found that it works better than anything else for my dry skin and I go through a lot of it. I use it straight on my hands after working in the garden or doing dishes. Just a few drops is all it takes. I massage it in and it is absorbed very quickly and doesn't leave my hands greasy. It does wonders for my nails. And my elbows! (no more rough, dry, flaking skin -- they are so smooth). Once or twice I week I apply it lightly on my arms and legs after a shower, and more often during the winter when my skin gets rough very easily. I also add it to my body lotions. I keep a large bottle in the bathroom and a smaller one by the sink. I wanted this compact bottle to keep in my desk. The product arrived nicely boxed and the cap was sealed. The oil is in a dark-colored glass bottle. The dropper dispenses the oil neatly with no mess and for those that do use this oil on brows or lashes, bonus brushes are included in the box.

I was excited about this new “magic potion” for hair and skin. However, after trying out 2 different brands of 100% castor oil, I’m ready to give up. My review is specifically for this BodyJ4You Organic Castor Oil.This pure castor oil is just way too thick, it’s very sticky and greasy and won’t get absorbed by my skin. I have to wipe it off from my hands otherwise I’d leave a greasy trail all over my house.I am also concerned that the thick castor oil may clog your pores when applied to the hair. Not only it will not help you grow new hairs, it may actually damage your follicles and make you lose hairs. I will continue using the oil on my elbow and feet, they do work fine on those dry patches if you just use them as a high concentration of body lotion. Hence the 3 stars. I do hope it works better for other users.
